Pitches Be Crazy Good

Our Tuesday night Downtown Kickball league wrapped up last night. The air was electric and the tension palpable as the leagues top 4 teams put their best foot forward in pursuit of the ultimate goal, a season championship.

A crazy night of games got underway straight out of the gate. In our first semi-final the #4 seed "Legend of the Great White Kickballers" pulled out a close game against the #1 seed, "Bickin Back Being Boo" winning by a score of 3-2 and opening up the draw for the other competitors.

In our second semi-final, the number #2 seed, "Pitches Be Crazy" held on for our second one run victory of the night, defeating the #3 seed, "The Flying Squirrels" 5-4.

Our championship game was set between "Pitches Be Crazy" and "The Legend of the Great White Kickballers". When the two squads met earlier in the season they battled tooth and nail to a 2-2 tie, so on paper this was a toss up. "Pitches Be Crazy" jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and that was all the scoring that occurred for the duration of the game. Excellent defense carried the day and good sportsmanship was on display throughout from both teams.

Congratulations to "Pitches Be Crazy" and to all of the teams that competed in a great Kickball season.

Pitch, Don't Kick My Vibe Pitches a Shutout

It was a calm Tuesday evening this week when our Midtown Kickball league playoffs took center stage. Four teams emerged from a raucous regular season to challenge for league supremacy in a four team single elimination playoff.

In our first semi-final the #1 seed "Where my Pitches at" sent a message to the rest of the teams that they meant business, overwhelming, "Team B" by a score of 10-0. Meanwhile in our second semi-final, the #2 seed "Pitch Don't Kick My Vibe" survived a scare from the veteran #3 seed, "Balls and Dolls" before ultimately coming out victorious by a score of 6-5.

Thus our championship game was set between the two Kickball juggernauts, 'Where My Pitches At" and "Pitch Don't Kick My Vibe". When the teams met earlier in the season, the top seeded "Where My Pitches At" came away with a hard fought win 3-2. Would a repeat, or revenge be in the cards?

As the game got underway is was clear that "Pitch Don't Kick My Vibe" was stingy on defense. Runs were non existent and base runners were few and far between as "Pitch Don't Kick My Vibe" thwarted every effort of their opponent. The same couldn't be said of "Where My Pitches At". "Pitch, Don't Kick My Vibe" broke through with timely kicks and speedy base running to capture the season championship 3-0.

Congratulations to Pitch, Don't Kick My Vibe and to all of the teams that competed in a great Kickball season.

How are Standings Calculated?
Winners receive 2 points, each team in a tie receives 1 point, and losers receive 0 points. If you forfeit, you lose a point, so don't forfeit! Plus, two forfeits make your team ineligible for playoffs.

Teams are ranked by (1) Ranking Points, (2) Head to Head Two Teams Only*, (3) Point Differential, (4) Coin Toss.

Head to Head is only used if there are two teams tied. Ties involving 3+ teams disregard H2H and move on to point differential for the tiebreaker.
º Forfeits
Parenthesized numbers indicate wins or losses by forfeit.
When calculating Ranking Points, forfeits may be weighted differently than normal wins and losses.
