A 'Savage' Win

"Savage Sac" is our Thursday Soccer champion, knocking out last year's champion in thrilling fashion. After 50 minutes the game was deadlocked and it took penalty kicks to decide the league champion, where "Savage Sac" took the 4-3 win.

Their story was that of an underdog, with our champions entering the playoffs as the #4 seed. They had to fight to get there though, starting the season slowly with a 2-2 record through four games. After that things clicked, picking up three wins and a draw in their final four games. Unfortunately the slow start hurt them, and that meant quite an uphill battle as the lowest seed in the playoffs.

That didn't seem to bother them too much though. "Savage Sac" continued their unbeaten run with a 3-1 win over "Silver Snakes" in the first round of the playoffs thanks to some great work on the defensive side of the ball. That was quite the change from their first match-up against each other earlier this season, which ended in a 4-4 draw.

In the championship game once again it was the defense that kept "Savage Sac" in the thick of things against "Iceland". Staying strong on the back end they were able to push it to penalties, where they capitalized and took the 4-3 win.

Congratulations to our newest champions on Thursday night!

How are Standings Calculated?
Winners receive 2 points, each team in a tie receives 1 point, and losers receive 0 points. If you forfeit, you lose a point, so don't forfeit! Plus, two forfeits make your team ineligible for playoffs.

Teams are ranked by (1) Ranking Points, (2) Head to Head Two Teams Only*, (3) Point Differential, (4) Coin Toss.

Head to Head is only used if there are two teams tied. Ties involving 3+ teams disregard H2H and move on to point differential for the tiebreaker.
º Forfeits
Parenthesized numbers indicate wins or losses by forfeit.
When calculating Ranking Points, forfeits may be weighted differently than normal wins and losses.
