"Glove Love" is our Sunday Funday League champion after entering the day as the top seed. Even a bit of inclement weather couldn't stop their hot bats culminating in a huge offensive outpouring in the championship game.
Starting off the day we had "Nice Snatch!" take on the "Brew-Tang Clan". The "Brew-Tang Clan" came out strong as the away team picking up four runs, but "Nice Snatch!" was able to answer with three runs of their own. Eventually their defense would take over while picking up a run in the 2nd and 4th innings, leading to a 5-4 victory.
Right afterward "Nice Snatch!" took on the #1 team, "Glove Love", but were no match. "Glove Love" got out to a fantastic start with a four-run bottom of the first inning, enough to take the game outright from there. They would go on to take a 6-1 win.
Our third game of the afternoon featured the #2 "Cleats and Cleavage" taking on #3 Red White and Brew" in a game that went down to the wire. Down 5-4 "Red White and Brew" was able to pick up a three-run inning to take a late lead, followed by a shutout inning on defense in the next inning to secure their spot in the finals.That set us up for a a championship between "Glove Love" and "Red White and Brew".
In the championship it was all about early runs once again, but the offense of "Glove Love" was just too overpowering. "Red White and Brew" started off strong with a two-run top half of the first, but our eventual champions countered with a five spot to retain the lead. The second inning was more of the same with " Glove Love" scoring three more times, eventually leading to a 13-5 victory.
Congrats to Glove Love for getting over the hump and earning the championship win just a season after falling in the championship game. Well done!
