"Victorious Secret" is our Sunday Funday League champion after a couple of great wins yesterday in the playoffs. Entering the afternoon as the #2 seed meant they had a highly coveted first-round bye, allowing them to scout their competition before their game. It also may have helped them regroup after a tough 7-4 loss the week before the playoffs.
In the first round "Masterbatters" took care of "Nice Snatch" with a 14-7 final score, while "Balls Up in the Air" defeated "Resting Pitch Face" by the score of 10-6, allowing both winners to advance to the next round.
In the second round our to seed "Glove Love" faced off against "Masterbatters" and had a bit of a scare against the #5 ranked team. It was a hard fought game, but "Glove Love" was able to pick up an 8-6 win despite maybe not being at their best.
In our other semi-final game "Victorious Secret" didn't have the greatest hitting game, but were able to rely on their dependable defense to secure a 5-2 win to set us up for a championship game featuring the league's two heavyweights.
In the championship game the bats for "Victorious Secret" picked up some steam, leading them to eight runs. Unfortunately for their opponent, "Glove Love", the same couldn't be said for their offense. While six runs is certainly decent, it wasn't enough to defeat "Victorious Secret". Oddly enough "Glove Love" lost by the score of 8-6 a game after winning by the same margin.
Congrats to "Victorious Secret" on a great season, and we look forward to seeing them make a run for back-to-back titles in the upcoming one!
