The Spring '24 Coed Soccer Playoff Finals delivered a thrilling conclusion to the season, with “911” emerging as the Open Division Champions after a dramatic 4-2 victory over “Game of Throw-ins”!
The evening kicked off with the semifinals, where the top-seeded "Game of Throw-ins" faced off against the #4 seed, "New World Order FC." From the start, "Game of Throw-ins" took control, quickly building momentum after scoring their first goal. They continued their onslaught to clinch a decisive 6-1 victory, securing their spot in the finals.
Next up, the second semifinal featured "911" and "Longshot 2.0," revisiting their intense Week 6 matchup, where "Longshot 2.0" had handed "911" their first loss of the season. This time, however, "911" was determined to flip the script. With outstanding defense and timely offensive strikes, "911" edged out "Longshot 2.0" to claim the last spot in the final.
In the championship game, "911" set the pace early, with their high-octane offense keeping the "Game of Throw-ins" goalkeeper on high alert. Despite their strong defensive efforts, "Game of Throw-ins" couldn't prevent "911" from scoring twice in the first half. However, the "Game of Throw-ins" offense roared back, scoring two goals to tie the game.
With the score at 2-2, the game headed into a dramatic penalty shootout. Both teams selected their top five kickers, knowing that every shot could be the difference. "911" scored with their first attempt, while "Game of Throw-ins" missed theirs, giving "911" an early lead. In the second round, "911" scored again, while "Game of Throw-ins" had their shot blocked, extending "911"'s lead to 2-0. With the final kick on the line, "Game of Throw-ins" missed, securing "911"'s championship win.
Congratulations to “911” on becoming the Coed Division Champions of the Sping‘24 season!
