“3x3” are the Monday Comp. Basketball Champions of the Fall ‘23 Season, after defeating “Old Timers” 2-1!
These two talented teams faced off in the Championship in a previous season so both of them were ready for the rematch of the century. The championship started off with high energy on the offensive end for both teams. “3x3” quickly pulled ahead by making some impressive shots at the beginning of the game. “Old Timers” tried to match the pace and scored some quick points to keep the game close, but “3x3” held tight to their lead by playing smart basketball. With six minutes left to play, the score was 15-9 and it looked like “3x3” was going to win the first game but “Old Timers” refused to give up. Both teams started to heat up towards the end and match each other point for point. “3x3” was able to finally pull away at the very end and win the game 21-15 with one last 3 pointer.
At the start of the second game, it looked like “3x3” was going to walk away as the champions of Monday basketball but “Old Timers” had other ideas. “Old Timers” refused to back down and made shot after shot to take an early lead. “3x3” started off slow in game two but their offense came alive towards the end and their defense was able to make some great plays. They ended up scoring a couple tough buckets to tie the score at 9-9 but “Old Timers” were able to pull away with some impressive shots of their own to win the second game 17-16.
It all came down to the third and final game of the series. Both teams were eager to become the champions of Monday basketball and you could see it in their defense. Both teams were playing tremendous defense and not allowing their opponent to get anything going on the offensive end. You could feel the intensity in the air and it was fun to watch. No one scored for the first three minutes of the match until “3x3” started to heat up. They scored five straight points to take an early lead but “Old Timers” came right back and tied the game 7-7. Neither team was backing down from the other. “3x3” pulled ahead after two remarkable plays on offense making the score 12-9 and they never looked back from there. “Old Timers” kept the championship competitive all the way until the end, but “3x3” made one final three to win the third and final game to claim their 4th championship in a row!
Congratulations to “3x3” on becoming the Monday Comp. Basketball Champions of the Fall Summer ‘23!
