Kickball - Tuesdays (Fall '16)

The "Blue Ballers" are our Downtown Division champs following a thrilling night of games. It's not often we have indy teams in our top kickball division, and even rarer do they win the whole thing, especially against verteran teams who have played with us and built chemistry. However, this indy all-star team came to play and in the end their championship win Tuesday night capped off a 7-1-2 season against some strong competition.

Defense was the theme all season for "Blue Ballers". Only once all season did they allow five runs (and it was the first game of the season), but other than that is was just three or less for their remaining nine games. As they say, defense wins championships.

And it was their defense that once again pulled through in the playoffs, along with some timely kicking. Their first game of the night fit that bill perfectly as they narrowly defeated "Base Invaders" by the score of 3-2 thanks to a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth inning. On the other side of the bracket the #3 "What She Order, Kick Fillet?" upset their higher ranked opponent "RiKICKulous" by the score of 5-1.

In the championship game things were locked in a 0-0 tie until "Blue Ballers" broke through with some great at-bats, taking advantage of the third baseman and left fielder playing off the foul line, picking up three runs. Those three would be enough to take the win, though "What She Order, Kick FIllet?" did grab a run in their last at-bat before the "Blue Ballers" got the final out to end the game at 3-1.

Congratulations to "Blue Ballers" on a fantastic season, and we hope to see them come back as a team next season to defend their title!
