"Sweep the Leg" is once again our Wednesday night kickball champion following a great mix of offense and defense which led them to the title. In total they allowed just one run over their two playoff games, which was more than enough given their 14 runs scored.
The night started off with "Sweep the Leg" taking on "SuhKewwl" in our 1 vs 4 match-up. "Sweep the Leg" was just too much for newly promoted "SuhKewwl" and, thanks to a strong four-run first inning, were able to cruise to a victory.
Our second game of the bracket had three-time winner "Sir Kicks A Lot" in a battle with "Friendship to Friendship" to see who would meet "Sweep the Leg" in the championship. As we have come to expect, "Sir Kicks A Lot" took care of business to the tune of a 7-3 win.
With that we were set up for the championship we expected at the beginning of the year, with "Sir Kicks A Lot", who has won three straight titles taking on "Sweep the Leg", who has won the championship in every league they've played over the last few years.
The game started off with defense being the dominant force. Early on each team had a chance to plate a run, but clutch plays at home would negate both chances, keeping the game scoreless through three innings. In the top of the fourth inning that tie was broken thanks to some patient hitting and opportune base-running by "Sweep the Leg". They would follow that up with another run in the fifth and three more in the top of the sixth before "Sir Kicks A Lot" broke through with a run in a last-ditch effort. It was too little, too late though and the one run was all they could muster. When the game had ended, it was a 6-1 win for "Sweep the Leg".
Congrats to "Sweep the Leg" on another championship, in what turned out to be a convincing win versus a top-notch team. They continue to build their reputation as one of the best kickball teams to ever play with us!
