Wow. Last night, we concluded the Fall 2016 Thursday night soccer league, and we have a new champion! Trespassers United has proven that persistence, dedication, and desire can turn things around in a big way.
Trespassers United began playing with us in the summer of 2015, as an Indy team made from individual and small group signups. They finished that season with an 0-8 record, but made great friends and signed up again. The next season, they won a game! They finished 1-6-1. Season after that they jumped up to 4-4... do you see a trend? Fast forward, and they wrapped up this season with an undefeated 7-0-3 record, emerging as champions!
In the first game last night, Trespassers United faced off against perennial playoff team, Sheer Gold, a multiple time champion. Earlier in the season the two teams fought to a draw, 2-2. Last night, Trespassers United had other ideas, and wrapped it up with a 5-2 win.
Our other semi-final game had the #2 seed, Team Iceland, squared up against Money Team. As they did earlier in the season, Team Iceland pulled up the win to face the undefeated Trespassers in the championship.
After losing to Trespassers United 5-3 in week 4, Team Iceland had hopes for revenge last night. Trespassers United had other ideas, and while the score was close, Trespassers emerged with the glory, winning the championship 3-2 to secure their title.
