"2 Bump Chumps" are our Tuesday Volleyball League champions despite running short with four players throughout the night.
Their first game of the night was against "That's What She Set." "2 Bump Chumps" won the serve and began strong. And, although they only had 4 players, they didn't miss a beat. They swept both game one and game two by more than 10 points, securing their spot in the finals.
Prior to their game it we had the #1 seed "The Sandlot" take on "I'd Hit That." The game began with "The Sandlot" serving and they quickly got ahead with "I'd Hit That" struggling to catch up for the remainder of game one leading to narrow 21-18 win. The second game was close for the first half until a late player arrival for "The Sandlot" helped tip things in their favor. Once on the court he gave his squad quite the advantage and led them to a dominant 21-12 game two win to complete the sweep.
The championship game took place between "The Sandlot" and "2 Bump Chumps." "The Sandlot" won the serve for game one and the match was very close the entire time. "The Sandlot" was able to draw first blood with a win in game one, but "2 Bump Chumps" answered right back and won game two. That set us up for a winner take all game three.
In game three "The Sandlot" once again started with the service. The "2 Bump Chumps" were killing it with their serves but "The Sandlot" used all players wisely and to their advantage as they really looked for open spots between the four players of 2 Bump Chumps. Ultimately, "2 Bump Chumps" won the third game 21-18, making them the volleyball champions for Winter 2016.
Congrats to "2 Bump Chumps" for a great season and winning a nail-biting championship game. With their move to the Sunday intermediate division we will have a new champion next year, but we look forward to seeing how they do against stiffer competition. Again congrats, and good luck in the Sunday league!
